Moveworks competitors, Moveworks pricing and Moveworks alternatives compared

Moveworks is a good product with a long record, and nothing on this page argues otherwise. It says it is trusted by more than 350 organizations, it was a Challenger in Gartner's 2025 Magic Quadrant for AI Applications in ITSM, and it announced FedRAMP Moderate authorization in February 2026. If you run a large IT or HR service desk on ServiceNow and want requests actually resolved, it belongs on the shortlist.

Short answer

The main Moveworks competitors are Aisera, Espressive, Leena AI, Kore.ai, Console and Serval for service desk automation, and Glean, Microsoft 365 Copilot and InSearch for employee search. Moveworks publishes no price on its own site, but its AWS Marketplace listing shows $150 per user per year for 1,000 to 2,500 users on a 12-month contract, a floor of $150,000 a year. The category is consolidating fast: Moveworks now belongs to ServiceNow, Aisera to Automation Anywhere, Espressive to Resolve and Console to Palo Alto Networks.

What has changed is who you are buying from. ServiceNow closed its acquisition of Moveworks on December 15, 2025, and its quarterly filing puts the aggregate purchase price at $2.4 billion. In February 2026 ServiceNow launched EmployeeWorks, which combines Moveworks conversational AI and enterprise search with the ServiceNow portal, and in May it launched Otto on top of that. Moveworks is still sold on its own, but the roadmap is now a ServiceNow roadmap.

The companies it competes with have been moving too. Of the service desk vendors that show up next to Moveworks in almost every shortlist, three others have changed owner in the last twelve months. So this comparison looks at two things for each option: what it costs, which is usually a quote, and who owns it today. Every figure below was read from the vendor's own site, a public filing or a named procurement data source, and secondary figures are labeled wherever they appear.

Why it works

What your team gets with Moveworks alternatives

A published price, if you know where to look

Moveworks' pricing page asks you to request a custom quote. Its AWS Marketplace listing does show a number: $150 per user per year for 1,000 to 2,500 users on a 12-month contract. That is $150,000 before anyone has asked a question.

Four owners changed in twelve months

Resolve bought Espressive in September 2025, Automation Anywhere bought Aisera in November, ServiceNow closed Moveworks in December and Palo Alto Networks announced it was buying Console on September 1, 2026. Roadmap risk is now a line in every evaluation.

Two different jobs share one shortlist

Most Moveworks competitors resolve tickets: password resets, access requests, software provisioning. Search products like Glean and InSearch find and cite answers. Decide which job you are funding before you compare prices, because the two categories barely overlap.

What it handles

One search, a cited answer, scoped to you

InSearch searches across every connected app, checks your permissions, and writes one clear answer with citations back to the exact source documents.

  • Quotes the Moveworks AWS Marketplace listing exactly, including the 1,000 to 2,500 user band that most summaries misstate
  • Gives Vendr's Moveworks and Glean contract data with sample sizes, and flags where Vendr's own page contradicts itself
  • Lists the current owner of every major Moveworks competitor, with the acquisition dates read from each buyer's announcement
  • Explains what ServiceNow EmployeeWorks is and why it is a separate purchase from Moveworks
  • Separates service desk automation from employee search, so you compare products that do the same job

Why InSearch

One search across every app, with a cited answer

Not eight separate search boxes, not a wall of blue links. InSearch unifies your apps and returns one written answer with citations, scoped to exactly what you can see.

One search, every app

Drive, Slack, Notion, Confluence, Gmail, Jira and Salesforce searched in a single query, so you stop opening a different search box for each tool.

A cited answer

A written answer in plain language with inline citations back to the exact source docs, so you can trust it and verify it instead of reading a page of links.

Permission-aware

It inherits and enforces each source's access controls at query time, so every person only ever sees answers from content they can already open. It never trains on your data.

Compared

Moveworks competitors compared: owner, published price and what each is built for

Read from each vendor's own site, public filings and acquisition announcements. Procurement platform figures describe past deals rather than list prices and are labeled as secondary. None of the service desk vendors in this table publishes a self-serve per-user price.

Vendr's Moveworks page contradicts itself. Its data widget reports an average and median of $130,000 a year, with a range of $89,500 to $271,333 across 31 purchases, while the article text on the same page describes contracts of "$150,000 to over $1 million" at "$15 and $45 per employee annually". The per-employee figures also do not match the $150 per user on Moveworks' own AWS listing. We quote the widget because it states a sample size, and we would treat every secondary Moveworks figure, including these, as a starting point for negotiation rather than a price.

Who are Moveworks' competitors?

Moveworks competes with two groups of products. The first is service desk automation, where the direct rivals are Aisera, Espressive, Leena AI, Kore.ai, Console and Serval. All of them promise to resolve employee IT and HR requests rather than only answer questions. The second is employee search, where buyers weigh Moveworks against Glean, Microsoft 365 Copilot and dedicated search products such as InSearch.

The two groups get mixed up because Moveworks does both. It resolves tickets and it searches knowledge, and ServiceNow now sells that search inside EmployeeWorks. If your service desk is drowning in password resets and access requests, compare Moveworks with the first group. If the complaint is that people cannot find the answer that already exists in Confluence or Slack, the second group is the real comparison, and it is much cheaper to enter.

How much does Moveworks cost?

Moveworks does not publish a price on its website. Its pricing page offers "a custom quote" along with "Scalable packages and pricing options for all stages of business growth". The one published number is on AWS Marketplace, where Moveworks lists $150 per user per year for a band of 1,000 to 2,500 users on a 12-month contract.

That listing sets the entry point. At the bottom of the band, 1,000 users cost $150,000 a year. At the top, 2,500 users cost $375,000. Above 2,500 users you need a different arrangement. Per person it works out to $12.50 a month, which is cheaper than many per-seat tools, but you cannot buy fewer than 1,000 through that listing.

Procurement data points the same way. Vendr reports an average and median contract of $130,000 a year, across 31 purchases, ranging from $89,500 to $271,333. Moveworks also cites a Forrester study claiming a 256 percent return and $11.5 million in savings over three years. That is a vendor-commissioned figure, so read it as the sales case, not a benchmark.

Is Moveworks still sold after the ServiceNow acquisition?

Yes. ServiceNow stated on February 26, 2026 that "Moveworks continues to be offered as a standalone product within the ServiceNow portfolio." No end-of-life date has been published, and existing customers have not been told to migrate.

The more useful question is where investment is going. The same announcement launched ServiceNow EmployeeWorks, built on Moveworks technology, and in May 2026 ServiceNow launched Otto, which it describes as combining Now Assist, Moveworks and AI Experience. If you do not run ServiceNow, ask your account team in writing how standalone Moveworks will be supported over the length of the contract you are about to sign. What to ask for is covered in the acquired vendor playbook.

What is ServiceNow EmployeeWorks?

ServiceNow EmployeeWorks is a separate ServiceNow product, not a new name for Moveworks. ServiceNow describes it as combining "Moveworks' conversational AI and enterprise search with ServiceNow's unified portal and autonomous workflows", and presents it as the front door for a workforce to search and act across systems. It became generally available on February 26, 2026.

It matters for pricing because it is its own purchase. A Moveworks community post from May 2026 introducing the EmployeeWorks web experience says it is "Available for customers who have purchased EmployeeWorks". A Moveworks customer who wants the new portal experience should expect a second line item, not an upgrade.

Which Moveworks competitors have been acquired?

Four of the best-known vendors in this category have changed owner since September 2025. Resolve acquired Espressive, announced September 10, 2025. Automation Anywhere acquired Aisera, announced November 4, 2025. ServiceNow closed Moveworks on December 15, 2025. Palo Alto Networks announced it was acquiring Console on September 1, 2026, without disclosing terms. A $500 million figure for Console circulates on aggregator sites, but no buyer or seller has published it, so we do not repeat it as fact.

None of those deals came with a published shutdown date, and that fits a wider pattern. Across the acquisitions in enterprise search since late 2024, including Dashworks by HubSpot and Qatalog by ClickUp, buyers have kept products running rather than announcing end-of-life dates. The risk is slower and quieter: the roadmap starts serving the parent company. Leena AI, Kore.ai, Serval and Glean remain independent.

What is the best Moveworks alternative?

It depends on which job you bought Moveworks for. For resolving IT and HR requests at enterprise scale, the closest alternatives are Aisera, Leena AI and Espressive, now under Resolve. Leena AI is the only one of those still independent. For a Slack-first IT team at a technology company, Serval is the fast-growing independent option, and Console is the other, now being acquired by Palo Alto Networks.

If what your employees actually use Moveworks for is finding answers, compare it with search products instead. Glean is the category leader, with a Vendr median of $98,890 a year and no published price. Microsoft 365 Copilot costs $30 a user a month on top of your Microsoft 365 plan. InSearch publishes its pricing at $20 a user a month and returns a cited answer across Drive, Slack, Notion, Confluence, Gmail, Jira and Salesforce, scoped to what each person is allowed to see. A 200-person team on InSearch Team pays $48,000 a year, below the $150,000 Moveworks floor.

Moveworks vs Aisera: which should you buy?

Buy Moveworks if you are standardizing on ServiceNow, and look hard at Aisera if you are not. Both resolve employee IT and HR requests with conversational AI, and neither publishes a price on its own site. The difference now is ownership. Moveworks is part of ServiceNow and its newest capabilities arrive through EmployeeWorks and Otto. Aisera belongs to Automation Anywhere, so its roadmap is likely to lean toward automation and process work, and it also covers customer service.

Ask both for the same thing: a written quote at your exact headcount, the minimum user commitment, and the support commitment for the full contract term. Moveworks' AWS listing makes its floor visible. Aisera's marketplace listings show placeholder amounts, so you will only get a real number from sales.

When you should stay with Moveworks

Stay if your service desk runs on ServiceNow, your employee count is well above 1,000, and the value you measure is tickets resolved without a human. That is exactly what Moveworks was built for, and a search product like ours will not replace it: we answer the question and stop, we do not reset passwords or provision software. Stay too if you need FedRAMP Moderate for public sector work, which Moveworks has and we do not.

Switch, or add a search product next to it, if most of your usage is people looking for information, if your headcount is below the 1,000-user listing floor, or if you do not want your knowledge search roadmap tied to a platform you do not otherwise use.

Good questions

Questions about Moveworks alternatives

ServiceNow owns Moveworks. The acquisition was announced in March 2025 and closed on December 15, 2025, and ServiceNow's quarterly filing puts the aggregate purchase price at $2.4 billion, below the $2.85 billion figure announced originally. ServiceNow says Moveworks continues to be offered as a standalone product within its portfolio.
Not on its website, which asks you to request a custom quote. Its AWS Marketplace listing is public, though: $150 per user per year for 1,000 to 2,500 users on a 12-month contract, so the smallest purchase through that listing is $150,000 a year. Vendr reports a median contract of $130,000 across 31 purchases, a secondary figure.
Moveworks is a conversational AI assistant for employees that resolves IT and HR requests, such as access and software provisioning, and searches company knowledge to answer questions. Since the ServiceNow acquisition, its technology also powers ServiceNow EmployeeWorks, a separate product that combines it with ServiceNow's portal and workflows.
Partly. Glean competes with Moveworks on employee search and answers, but it is not a service desk automation product and does not resolve tickets in the same way. Buyers whose main use is finding information across apps often shortlist both. Glean publishes no price, and Vendr reports a median of $98,890 a year across 174 purchases.
Automation Anywhere announced its acquisition of Aisera on November 4, 2025. Aisera continues to sell agentic automation for IT, HR and customer service. It has no pricing page, and the amounts shown on its Azure Marketplace listings are placeholders rather than real prices, so any quote comes through sales.
Resolve acquired Espressive, announced September 10, 2025. The espressive.com website now redirects to resolve.io, and its Barista virtual agent is sold as part of Resolve's automation portfolio. No price is published for either.
Yes. Moveworks' only published listing starts at 1,000 users, so smaller companies usually look at Leena AI or Serval for request automation, which quote by headcount, or at a search product if the need is answers rather than tickets. InSearch publishes pricing from $20 per user per month billed annually, with no hard seat minimum.
