What are the best Coveo alternatives?
For internal employee search the best Coveo alternatives are Glean, Microsoft 365 Copilot, Dropbox Dash, Lucidworks Fusion and InSearch. For customer-facing site and commerce search, where Coveo is strongest, the real alternatives are Algolia, Elasticsearch and Bloomreach. Choosing well depends entirely on which of those two jobs you are hiring the tool for, because Coveo does both and most of its alternatives do only one.
This is the distinction that most comparison articles get wrong. Coveo sells Solution Plans across Commerce and Knowledge, and within Knowledge it sells separate licenses for Self-Service, Contact Center, Intranet, Salesforce, ServiceNow and SAP. Coveo for Intranet, the one that competes with Glean and with us, is a single line in a much larger catalog. Its entitlements are different from the ones you will read about in a commerce case study.
If your problem is that employees cannot find anything across Drive, Slack, Confluence and email, you want a dedicated workplace search product and you should compare Coveo for Intranet specifically, not Coveo generally. If your problem is that customers cannot find products or help articles on your website, Coveo is genuinely one of the two or three best options in the world and you should be slower to replace it than this page might suggest.

The table above is the Pro and Enterprise split from Coveo’s current product entitlements page. It is worth reading before a first sales call, because several of the things buyers assume are standard turn out to be tier-dependent or sold as add-ons. HIPAA is an Enterprise add-on rather than a plan feature. OCR is an add-on on both plans. Single sign-on on Pro is documented as "Salesforce, Google & Office 365 only", which is a real gate if your identity provider is Okta or anything else.
Credit where it is due on one point people often assume goes the other way: document-level security is included on both Pro and Enterprise. Coveo does not hold item-level permission enforcement back for its top tier, and several competitors do. That is a genuine strength and we are not going to pretend otherwise.
