Compare · Gemini Enterprise vs ChatGPT Enterprise

Gemini Enterprise vs ChatGPT Enterprise pricing, and Gemini vs ChatGPT for business on seat cost, seat caps and connectors

Most US companies choosing an AI assistant for the whole staff end up with the same two names on the whiteboard: Google's Gemini Enterprise and OpenAI's ChatGPT Enterprise. The price question should be easy, and it is not, because the two vendors publish different amounts of information and label it differently.

Short answer

Google publishes Gemini Enterprise prices and OpenAI publishes only half of its own. Gemini Enterprise Business starts at $21 per seat per month and Standard and Plus start at $30, with a 30 day trial, and Google now lists a pay-as-you-go option with a $0 seat fee for organizations with 20 or more seats. ChatGPT Business is $20 per seat per month billed annually, $25 monthly, capped at 200 paid seats for workspaces created since August 24, 2026. ChatGPT Enterprise has no published price: OpenAI says "Custom pricing" and routes you to sales. At 150 users, Gemini Business lists at $37,800 a year and ChatGPT Business at $36,000.

Two IT managers comparing AI assistant seat quotes on a laptop

Google puts two seat prices on its product page, both written as Starting at, and never says whether they are the annual or the month to month rate. OpenAI puts exact prices on ChatGPT Business, down to the monthly premium, and says nothing at all about ChatGPT Enterprise beyond Custom pricing. So a fair comparison has to line up Google's published seats against OpenAI's published Business plan, and treat both Enterprise tiers as quotes.

Every figure below was read from cloud.google.com, the Gemini Enterprise documentation, the Google help center, openai.com and the OpenAI help center on September 28, 2026. Why it works

What your team gets with Gemini Enterprise vs ChatGPT Enterprise

Google publishes two prices, OpenAI publishes one plan

Gemini Enterprise lists Business from $21 and Standard and Plus from $30 per seat per month. OpenAI lists ChatGPT Business at $20 annual and $25 monthly, and ChatGPT Enterprise only as Custom pricing. You can size Google without a call. You can size OpenAI only below 200 seats.

The seat caps point in opposite directions

ChatGPT Business stops at 200 paid seats for workspaces created on or after August 24, 2026, and OpenAI support cannot raise it. Gemini Business is capped too, at 300 seats on the product page and 500 in the help center, but Standard and Plus have no seat limit at a published price.

Coverage is decided per app, not per plan

Gemini Enterprise indexes connected sources with permission-aware search on every edition. ChatGPT reaches company data through a Company Knowledge plugin where, in OpenAI's words, installing the plugin does not connect your app accounts. Each member connects their own. That difference matters more than a dollar a seat.

What it handles

One search, a cited answer, scoped to you

InSearch searches across every connected app, checks your permissions, and writes one clear answer with citations back to the exact source documents.

  • Lines up every seat price Google and OpenAI publish, read from the vendors on September 28, 2026
  • Flags what neither vendor states: whether Google's $21 is annual or monthly, and any ChatGPT Enterprise figure
  • Prices 50, 150 and 300 users on each published plan, including the point where ChatGPT Business runs out of seats
  • Explains Google's new pay-as-you-go option with a $0 seat fee, which almost no comparison mentions yet
  • Compares where each product actually gets company answers from, and which connectors are locked to higher editions

Why InSearch

One search across every app, with a cited answer

Not eight separate search boxes, not a wall of blue links. InSearch unifies your apps and returns one written answer with citations, scoped to exactly what you can see.

One search, every app

Drive, Slack, Notion, Confluence, Gmail, Jira and Salesforce searched in a single query, so you stop opening a different search box for each tool.

A cited answer

A written answer in plain language with inline citations back to the exact source docs, so you can trust it and verify it instead of reading a page of links.

Permission-aware

It inherits and enforces each source's access controls at query time, so every person only ever sees answers from content they can already open. It never trains on your data.

Third-party blogs quote ChatGPT Enterprise anywhere from $25 to $75 a seat and name seat minimums OpenAI never states. None of those figures come from OpenAI, so they are not in this table.

Is Gemini Enterprise cheaper than ChatGPT Enterprise?

On published prices they are close: Gemini Enterprise Business starts at $21 a seat and ChatGPT Business is $20 billed annually. Nobody can compare the two Enterprise tiers from public information, because OpenAI publishes no ChatGPT Enterprise price and Google publishes only a starting figure of $30 for Standard and Plus.

The dollar gap is small enough that it should not decide anything. The real price differences sit in the fine print. Google's $21 and $30 are both labeled Starting at, and the page never says which billing term they belong to. Google's billing article describes two terms for Business, a Monthly Term on a 30 day cycle and an Annual Term that is a "12-month commitment billed monthly at a discounted rate", and adds that switching from annual back to monthly "is not permitted until the 12-month commitment is fulfilled". OpenAI, by contrast, labels every Business figure with its term: $20 if billed annually, $25 if billed monthly.

So if your finance team needs a number it can hold a vendor to, OpenAI's Business price is the more precise of the two. If it needs a number that still exists above 200 seats, Google is the only one of the pair that publishes one.

How much does Gemini Enterprise cost per user?

Gemini Enterprise Business starts at $21 per seat per month and Standard and Plus start at $30. Google also lists a pay-as-you-go option with a $0 seat fee for organizations with 20 or more seats, billed on usage. Frontline is an add-on for Standard and Plus customers with no published price.

Business is the small-company edition: Google describes it as "For small businesses and teams" with "No IT setup needed", and the trial lets you use up to 5 seats on a monthly term at no cost. Adding a sixth seat, or switching to the annual term, ends the trial immediately, which is worth knowing before an eager department head invites the whole floor. Storage is 25 GiB per seat, pooled.

Standard and Plus share one price card on Google's page, from $30, with no separate Plus figure. They add the things larger IT teams ask for: unlimited seats, roughly 140 connectors against about 34 on Business by our count of Google's connector page, custom connectors, custom MCP servers, and the ability to bring your own agents into the Agent Marketplace. The Frontline add-on requires 150 or more Standard or Plus users.

The newest line is the one to watch. Google's pay-as-you-go option charges no seat fee and bills "at standard pay-as-you-go rates for resources like tokens, memory, compute, and storage". Google notes it "is gradually rolling out and currently available to a limited group of customers" and that Gemini Notebook is not included. For a company where most staff would use the assistant a few times a week, a usage model can come in well under a seat price. For heavy users it can come in well over it, and there is no published cap.

How much does ChatGPT Enterprise cost per user?

OpenAI does not publish a ChatGPT Enterprise price. Its pricing page says "Custom pricing. Contact our sales team to discuss enterprise pricing." The largest OpenAI plan with a public price is ChatGPT Business: $20 per Standard seat billed annually or $25 monthly, and $100 or $125 for a Premium seat.

Business requires at least two paid seats, in any mix of Standard and Premium. Since August 24, 2026 the maximum is 200 paid seats per subscription, and OpenAI's help center is blunt about it: "Our support team is unable to change your maximum seat limit." Workspaces created before that date keep their previous limit, which is why some older 300 person Business workspaces still exist and new ones cannot be set up the same way.

Above that ceiling you are buying Enterprise, and the conversation changes. Enterprise runs on annual plans with invoicing through sales, a shared pool of credits for advanced features, and usage rates published per message: GPT-5.6 Sol at 10 credits a message, Agent mode at 30 and a Deep research task at 50, with Sol's promotional pricing running at least through November 21, 2026. OpenAI does not publish the dollar value of a credit on those pages, so the rate card tells you relative cost, not absolute cost. One more line from OpenAI's own documentation belongs in every Enterprise negotiation: Enterprise plans without flexible pricing "have the same per-seat usage limits as Plus for most features."

What do Gemini Enterprise and ChatGPT cost for 50, 150 and 300 users?

At list price, 150 users cost $37,800 a year on Gemini Enterprise Business, $54,000 on Gemini Standard and $36,000 on ChatGPT Business billed annually. At 300 users ChatGPT Business is no longer available to a new workspace, so the comparison becomes Gemini against an unpublished ChatGPT Enterprise quote.

Annual cost at list50 users150 users300 users
Gemini Enterprise Business, from $21$12,600$37,800$75,600 (at the 300 seat product page cap)
Gemini Enterprise Standard, from $30$18,000$54,000$108,000
ChatGPT Business Standard, $20 annual$12,000$36,000Not available above 200 seats

Two cautions on this table. The Gemini rows use Google's Starting at figures, which is the floor, not a promise, and Google does not label the term. And none of these rows include the cost of what each assistant cannot reach. If half of your company's knowledge sits in apps a product only connects per person, the effective cost per useful answer is higher than the seat price suggests.

Gemini vs ChatGPT for business, which one reaches more of your company data?

Gemini Enterprise indexes connected sources centrally with permission-aware search on every edition, and Standard and Plus reach about 140 connectors. ChatGPT reaches company data through a Company Knowledge plugin that each member has to connect to their own accounts, so coverage depends on who has done it.

Google's Business edition connects Google Calendar, Chat, Drive, Gmail and Sites, plus around 30 third-party sources including Confluence Cloud, Jira Cloud, Box, Dropbox, GitHub, HubSpot, OneDrive, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams, Notion, Salesforce, Slack and Zendesk. ServiceNow appears in Google's list of popular connectors but only on Standard and Plus. Google documents "enforcement of document-level access controls" across search, assistant and agents, and every edition includes Deep Research, the Workflow Builder for no-code agents (formerly Agent Designer) and Gemini Notebook for enterprise.

OpenAI's help center describes Company Knowledge as a plugin that "replaces the previous company knowledge option in chat" and says twice that installing it does not connect anyone's app accounts or grant access to source data. Members authenticate each provider themselves, with one exception: an administrator-managed Google Drive source. OpenAI concedes nothing on security here and does not need to, because the plugin "respects permissions in the connected source". The gap is completeness. In a 150 person company with five core apps, that is up to 750 individual connections, and the answers for anyone who skipped a step quietly come from fewer sources.

Which one should you buy?

Buy Gemini Enterprise if your company runs on Google Workspace, you are above 200 people, or you want a published seat price at any size. Buy ChatGPT Business if you are under 200 seats, your people already prefer ChatGPT, and the job is writing and analysis more than finding company documents. Treat ChatGPT Enterprise as a negotiation, not a price.

Gemini Enterprise does not require Google Workspace. Workspace is one connector among many and Microsoft 365 sources sit beside it, but a Google shop gets the most from it because Drive, Gmail and Calendar are indexed with real-time syncing. ChatGPT tends to win on user preference and on how far people push it for drafting, analysis and code, which is why many companies run both and argue about it every renewal.

Before you sign either, get three answers in writing: the term your quoted seat price belongs to, what happens at the seat cap you are closest to, and which of your own apps the product will index for everyone on day one rather than per person over the next quarter.

Where InSearch fits, and where it does not

InSearch is not a general assistant, and if your main need is drafting documents, analyzing spreadsheets or writing code, buy Gemini or ChatGPT. We do one job: search Google Drive, Slack, Notion, Confluence, Gmail, Jira and Salesforce together and return a written answer with inline citations back to the exact source, scoped to what each person can already open. Admins connect a source once for the whole company, so nobody's answers depend on whether they remembered to link an account.

Our price is on the pricing page: $20, $32 and $49 per user per month billed annually, from three seats, with no seat ceiling at 200. Try the search console at the top of this page against real content, then decide whether your team needs an assistant, a search tool, or both.

Good questions

Questions about Gemini Enterprise vs ChatGPT Enterprise

No. Gemini Enterprise is a Google Cloud subscription, and Google Workspace is one of its connectors alongside Microsoft 365 sources such as OneDrive, Outlook and SharePoint. It can be bought through a Workspace subscription, but that is a purchase route, not a requirement. Google shops get the most from it because Drive, Gmail and Calendar sync in real time.
Google offers a 30 day trial of Gemini Enterprise Business for up to 5 seats on a monthly term, and a 30 day trial of Standard or Plus. Adding a sixth Business seat or moving to the annual term ends the trial at once. OpenAI's help center does not currently document a free trial for ChatGPT Business.
For workspaces created on or after August 24, 2026, ChatGPT Business allows a maximum of 200 paid Standard and Premium seats, and OpenAI states its support team cannot change that limit. The minimum is two paid seats. Workspaces created before that date keep their previous limit. Above 200 seats, a new customer needs ChatGPT Enterprise.
It is a newer Gemini Enterprise option with a $0 seat fee for organizations with 20 or more seats, billed at Google's standard pay-as-you-go rates for tokens, memory, compute and storage. Google says it is rolling out gradually to a limited group of customers and that Gemini Notebook is not included.
Both terms exist, and Google's product page does not say which one the $21 and $30 starting prices belong to. For Business, the Monthly Term runs on a 30 day cycle and the Annual Term is a 12-month commitment billed monthly at a discounted rate. You cannot switch from annual back to monthly until the 12 months are up.
Yes, through the Company Knowledge plugin, which respects the permissions in each connected source. OpenAI states that installing the plugin does not connect anyone's app accounts, so each member authorizes the apps they use. The exception is an administrator-managed Google Drive source, which can be available without an individual connection.
